What is Formula 1?

Formula 1 is the highest class of international single-seater auto racing, sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). It is widely regarded as the most prestigious and technically demanding motorsport in the world.

Each season features around 24 Grands Prix held across five continents, with 11 constructor teams and 22 drivers competing for the World Championship.

The Cars

F1 cars are entering a "Nimble Car" era to promote closer, more agile racing. The 2026-spec cars still produce over 1,000 horsepower, but now derive it from a 50/50 split between the 1.6L turbocharged V6 and a massive 350kW electric motor—a 300% increase in electrical power. They remain incredibly fast, reaching 0–100 mph in approximately 2.5 seconds while running on 100% sustainable fuel.

Modern 2026 F1 cars utilize Active Aerodynamics—switching between Z-Mode for high downforce in corners and X-Mode for low drag on straights—to maximize efficiency. While downforce is reduced by ~30% to minimize "dirty air," the cars are 30kg lighter and significantly narrower, allowing for more wheel-to-wheel action and easier overtaking.
